Toyota Camry 2010 Airbag Problem

My wife purchased a Toyota Camry 2010 in the end of 2009. One year later in 2011 she found that the red light of the airbag was on. She sent the car to Toyota dealer in Richardson for repair. In April, 2012, the red light of the airbag was on again and she called the dealer. They said they could fix it again. However, before she could send it back on her day off, she had an accident. It was a severe accident that the car was a total lose and she was injured. But none of the airbags deployed in the accident. The police officer came to the site of the accident. The first word he said to my wife:”why the airbag was not deployed? Are you OK?”
I am posting this true story here just to remind everyone that airbags could provide more safety to you but they may not deploy.
